but what if ragnarok was good. what if it was a tragedy. what if the death of a planet, even one that was the heart of a brutal empire, held the weight it deserved.
what if thor was noble and flawed and morally grey and he had to confront his flaws and crimes and asgard's twisted ideology and he really did begin to change but his change came too late to save his people, the very people he had committed all those horrors to protect.
and what if loki was finally vindicated in seeing the horror of asgard for what it is, but its destruction brought no relief. what if he and thor could finally recognise one another as fellow victims of odin, but only at the cost of odin himself. what if loki could only begin to heal by bringing about the end of the world, and he and thor could only be brothers again when no-one else remained.
and what if hela was just as tragic and complicated as her brothers. what if her death was not a victory but one more horror they failed to prevent. what if all that saved the sons of odin from their father's fate was each other, and hela, who never got to have a sibling, didn't know how to let them save her.

The sun will shine on two other guys who've never actually interacted before but who happen to be played by the same actors
"ThE sUn WiLl ShInE oN tHeM aGaIn"
I really don't care about the reunion at this point. And not just because Loki is not the original variant that has little in common to the original, Thor became flanderized and annoying in later movies. They're not the same characters anymore, they just look like them.

People need to relearn tumblr etiquette so badly. You can’t reblog a gifset/edit/fic with complaints in the tags about how you didn’t like x, y, z about that media and then expect OP not to be mad.
Some of us have been in this site for years even though we get less and less notes everyday and you know why? Because we’re passionate about the stuff we’re creating fanart for and we want other people who are also into that stuff to have content to reblog.
I feel like non-creators don’t understand how discouraging it is to see that somebody has reblogged your art and it’s just full of negativity. You people need to learn how not to be weirdos and don’t be surprised when creators block your ass for being annoying in their creations.
And while we’re at it, y’all need to learn how to interact with media. If you hate something so much that you need to express your feelings towards it make! your! own! post! Us creators don’t care about your opinions and most importantly we don’t want to hear your opinions. If you feel the need to shit talk in strangers’ posts about how much you hate a piece of media maybe you need to take a step back.

Hello I do not know how to say this in a way that would do numbers on tumblr.com but if you are a citizen of an EU country this your reminder to vote in June. Elections for the EU-Parliament take place from the 6th to 9th of June depending on where you live, you can find more details on when and how to vote here.
I know that the EU can seem like this far away thing that you can have many complicated feelings about. But at this point so many key decisons are made at the European level, where the Parliament really can make or break a law. And I am talking about big topics like climate change and global politics but also everyday situations like buying stuff online or getting a refund for your delayed flight.
So even if it might not always be visible, who makes those decisions in the EU-Parliament does affect you now and will continue to do so in the future. Use your vote to determine in which way.

Marzi's Old House Supply Kit: A Non-Exhaustive List
So you've moved into an old house! Congratulations! No, no, look at me. Look in my eyes. Congratulations. You don't need smart lighting. You don't need paltry things like "showers that don't make ungodly noises if you set the water outside a very specific temperature range" or "logical staircases." Because those people who say They Built Them Sturdier Back Then is survivorship bias are wrong, lead paint is only a problem if you eat it, and your new home is basically a tank
also it might have stained glass. so basically you win
(no but seriously the Survivorship Bias argument is just like. tell me you don't live in a city with large quantities of remaining working-class 110-year-old buildings without telling me. I do. they're sturdier. end of.)
but you might need some things to make it a bit more comfortable. here's what I've found, over eight years of living in houses built 1920 or earlier
Power strips. Depending on the age of your house, it may or may not have had electricity originally. And even if it did, whoever lived there almost certainly had fewer things to plug in than the average denizen of the 2020s. There also may have been gorgeous wall sconces that some asshole heartlessly ripped out at some point, forcing you to use the hideous hateful Overhead LightTM or plug in a bunch of lamps. Either way, you're going to need to turn that single outlet in the room into several more. Hence, power strips.
(hey, I never said this list was free of my design biases. deal)
A Good Fan. You may live in a place where retrofitting with air conditioning was commonplace in the last several decades. I do not. So a good pedestal fan can make the difference between comfort and just not sleeping at all from late June to mid-September. Weirdly, I did once look at a place that was from the 1850s and had been retrofitted with central A/C, which is vanishingly rare in even urban Massachusetts. But I digress.
A stud-finder. "Marzi, you spent years of your life explaining to tourists that picture rails existed because trying to hammer nails directly into horsehair plaster and then putting weight on them did Bad Things." Yes I did. "What did you attempt to do the second week of living in your first house with horsehair plaster?" ...shut up. I used the Poltergeist Method to find solid wood- I don't know if it's actually studs or the lath or what; I'm not a builder -to hang my Lady and the Unicorn tapestry from, namely knocking on the wall until it doesn't sound hollow. You might want to go a bit quieter and more advanced. Or, if you have a picture rail, embrace the "long visible hanging wires" look. It is in fact there for a reason!
Window screens. You are actually required by Massachusetts state law to provide these to your tenants. Doesn't mean my last landlady did. And if you own your place, live in another state, or have a similarly laissez-faire building owner, you might end up needing to Bring Your Own Insect-Blocking Shield. Just make sure you've got them, one way or the other. Because see above re: fan vs. air conditioning in old houses.
WD-40. When's the last time those hinges were oiled? Potentially before television. And they WILL squeak. UPDATE I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT WD-40 IS NOT A GOOD LONGTERM SOLUTION. Find "actual oil." Not sure what the more specific name is. Good to know!
That's just what I've found needful so far, but I'm happy to update the list as required!
And you'd better believe, if I owned my own place, this would include "the name of a preservation contractor to undo all the unnecessary ~*MoDeRnIzInG*~ aesthetic bullshit the past owners did since the End of Mainstream Western House Beauty AKA 1920 (That Brief Rococo Revival In the 1930s Can Maybe Sit With Us)"

I’ll go ahead and say it so others don’t have to - the real reason some people complain or dislike Rook is cause they’re not the Inquisitor/Lavellan.
Hope now we can all stop waltzing around it, let people have different opinions, and accept they are just opinions and not The One and Only Truth or ground-breaking criticism they often pretend to be.

also. not only does loki become even more unrecognisable in series 2 (because now they're not only fucking up his mannerisms and characterisation, but they've abandoned the thematic / philosophical questions about his character too)... in those middle episodes he didn't even feel like he needed to be there. and quite frankly, TH was like... audibly bored. and i really can't blame him. there's just nothing to work with there.

like i know its a dead horse but its truly just atrocious how wc background characters work compared to other franchises with a similar character count and even earlier entries in the series. like i think about how po3 genuinely had a compelling secondary cast and i get mad about the future of wc forever. like fuuuck man i dont know who shellfur is i dont care.

The wild thing about Thor is that single most consistent thing about his appearances in the MCU is that every installment reduces how much he's allowed to emote. If you put it on a graph it would be like... practically an exponential downward curve. I think the only exception is that he's a little more emotive in Infinity War than in Ragnarok, because Ragnarok was almost rock bottom for this, but then Endgame sets the path downwards again. (And I haven't seen TLAT, so maybe Thor does emote in that, but the consensus I've heard is that it's still even less serious in tone than Ragnarok, so...)
And I even like the first half of Thor's MCU appearances! I think he's well-written/directed/acted from Thor 1 to AOU, and his character becoming more closed-off and armoured in his trauma makes a lot of sense! But when you zoom out and look at the big picture... It's still not an encouraging trend.
When I think about it, my main gripe with Thor Ragnarok is that it didn't allow the pretty men to cry. So many of my issues would be solved with more melodrama and crying. I'd be willing to overlook inconsistencies in world-building and mannerisms if you make them cry!
My biggest problem was that I wasn't convinced that Thor ever cared for Loki based on how he acted in that movie alone. I know Loki has hurt Thor in past movies, BUT HE WAS CRYING WHILE DOING SO! It was not an easy decision for him and was born out of fear for his life and the identity crisis!
When Thor is about to bash Loki's head with Mjolnir, he's smirking and seems to imply he's threatened him like that before. If he had been desperately crying, asking where the fuck the real Odin was and what has Loki done to him, I'd have less issues with it. But it just comes off as very cruel towards Loki.

I didn't post about it at the time but the way a seelie rescued us from the Night Realm using a wind current had the Venti conspiracist part of me going insane. I'm still catching up with the world quests but has anyone made a good post incorporating that into the corkboard?

Ok so, I've got a transformation kink. Love that shit. I've always felt a little distant from alot of works in that space though considering alot of them focus on loss of humanity in a way where the person effectively *dies*.
I may just be looking in the wrong spaces, but I can never find stories about someone remaining who they are, either uplifted by or in spite of what they've become.
Like "oh no I'm a dragon now! But I don't want to abandon all my friends and loved ones, nor do I want to abandon my passions just so I can sleep in a cave and eat people."
I really like figuring stuff out post tf, still being able to live as you have, or at least close to it. I guess it just really ties into my beliefs that anyone can do anything, they may just need some help.

St. John's Abbey Church in Collegeville, Minnesota. Photos from MPR.
Designed by Hungarian-born and Bauhaus-educated architect Marcel Breuer and completed in 1961, the process of the church's design and construction was chronicled by Hilary Thimmesh, a monk at the abbey, in the book Marcel Breuer and a Committee of Twelve Plan a Church. Director Brady Corbet has credited the book as the initial inspiration for his film The Brutalist (2024).
